Interview with RCT AI: it's time to focus on the changes of blockchain to the game distribution end

Recently, with AxieStpen and other head projects have encountered the dilemma of falling tokens and shrinking user volume, and the overall gamefi market has also tended to calm down.

But at the same time, we also observed that some gamefi projects that do not stop at token economics quietly enter the market with differentiated ideas. For example, RCT AI, founded in 2018, is a service provider that mainly provides AI technology solutions for the game industry. Its core technology chaos box is an AI narrative engine based on deep reinforcement learning, which can help game producers to generate intelligent NPCs, intelligent organisms and intelligent environments with different behavior patterns and dialogue lines on a large scale. Currently, it serves Yuelong intelligent entertainment More than 20 game studios such as youmi entertainment.

Based on AI technology, RCT AI's overseas business tried to lay out the ecosphere projects related to Web3 games. Recently, Wu Xiankun, co-founder and President of RCT AI, accepted an exclusive interview with chain catcher and shared some thoughts and differentiation strategies on blockchain games. The following is the full text of the dialogue:

Chain Catcher:In the A3 round of financing disclosure, you mentioned that you would continue to work on metaverse. How is the progress now? What projects or major events have been done?

Wu XiankunIn May last year, we jointly released the virtual human NFT "n ü wa Nuwa" with the digital artist song ting.

After that, our overseas business laid out the ecosphere project related to Web3 games. One is mirror world, a game matrix driven by the interoperability SDK layer, which is designed to help web2 developers complete Web3 game development with low code. Mirror world game matrix is a virtual amusement park composed of multiple asset sharing crypto games, which will allow all users to enjoy a variety of leisure game experiences and crypto reality benefits at the same time; Mirror world Mobile SDK is a set of cross platform tools designed to help developers integrate blockchain technology more effectively, easily and economically. In March this year, it raised US $4 million. At present, a team of about 30 or 40 people is operating.

The other is the AAA level MMO Internet 3.0 game delysium, which emphasizes diversity and 3a open world MMORPG experience, including fighting, exploration, construction, cultivation, social and artificial intelligence driven metabeing games, and promotes the chain game industry to the next stage. The project also raised US $4 million in March, and now the team has more than 150 people.

Recently, we have also reached a strategic cooperation with the second world culture. We will jointly launch the soularis brand and use cutting-edge technologies to create a virtual society in which users and AI virtual people coexist and digital identity and assets are interconnected in the Internet 3.0 era.

Chain Catcher:Why did the AI technology provider of to B expand the game products of to C at this time point?

Wu Xiankun:In fact, we have been thinking about how to build metaverse better. We understand that metaverse has three characteristics: self growth, large-scale and sustainable.

The AI we have done before focuses more on the self growing part. The sustainable part and large-scale products may need visualization and Gamification to achieve the goal. No matter what type of game you play, you need to chain up to make it a metaverse.

The key time point is that we ended the A2 round of financing. The urgent expectations of many investors have also led to the attempt of new ecological business. We are one of the first companies in China to study metaverse. Therefore, in addition to focusing on AI, we hope to more directly touch the user end and build a larger metaverse.

Chain Catcher:Axie, stpen and other representatives of chain tourism have a rapid rise, but they also quickly encounter bottlenecks. What is your differentiation strategy when doing chain tourism?

Wu Xiankun:The token economics of play to ear needs to constantly support the value of tokens and give players a return rate that far exceeds the natural market. It is difficult to support this system with a large scale. However, we believe that in addition to affecting the design of the game's digital mechanism, blockchain can also affect other aspects of the game, such as channel distribution.

When designing, we do not want to recreate the existing old model of chain travel, but think about exploring some changes to the business model based on the characteristics of the blockchain.

It is equivalent to our chain game is to provide a container so that everyone can publish their own content and run with their own tokens. The value of such a project is the value collection of many parallel universes, and it does not completely depend on or bind any of them. Secondly, as a content producer, if the game is distributed in a more decentralized way, the system will not only depend on the failure or success of a specific investment.

Of course, we are also concerned about the future income. One of the conditions behind the concern is that we must pay attention to the quality of the content. If the quality of the game itself is good, it may bring some consumer and non investment value, and it will become a "robot" with continuous profit creation and digital productivity.

Under this premise, the feature of our content production is that there are many AI driven virtual people who can interact with each other. We also provide cloud game versions to expand the players in some developing countries. In short, we hope that the user base will be larger and the whole ecology will be more sustainable.

Chain Catcher:What is the application of AI in the content production of your chain game products?

Wu Xiankun:First of all, we want to define a new narrative experience of AI interaction to make the user's game experience more dynamic and personalized.

Second, we will try some financial attributes. For example, we will issue an AI to compete with other players to improve matching efficiency and help users play games to earn income.

If we only play games, we can really give up the content of AI, but we hope to constantly explore the possibility of AI. In addition, if we want to make a self-growing world, we need to make the virtual creatures in this world intelligent.

Last year, we tried the dialogue of AI. This year, we used last year's model to help users "get gold". We still have many attempts. In short, we think that in an identity system, there can be a virtual person to help me to interact and talk.

Chain Catcher:Why is it difficult to make a fun and quality game in the whole chain game market?

Wu Xiankun:First of all, the user demand is mainly krypton gold. Only investors and researchers in this industry pay attention to the entertainment of the game, which has no driving force for content production.

Secondly, the most important thing is that we have not yet understood how blockchain and games are combined? It is not clear what blockchain means to games, or what games mean to blockchain. The common practice now is that the game currency in the traditional game has become a digital asset. If it is only like this, there will be game risk. Not only the experience of the game itself is not enhanced, but also the characteristics of Web3 such as free circulation are not reflected.

Third, investment is still insufficient. Now, most of the chain games are financing millions of dollars, which is very small compared with the scale of traditional game investment. If it is only a small cost investment, and if the profit model is not working, it will be impossible to make good content quickly if it can only be recovered through asset trading.

Chain Catcher:What do you think blockchain means for games? What is the possible future of chain travel?

Wu Xiankun:I think we can't just focus on the game design, which is very unsustainable.

The changes in the game level of the mobile terminal are sure to affect every type of game. No matter what game you release on your mobile phone, it is only a change in the channel and UI interaction, which can be used by many people.

In addition to playing methods, we pay more attention to the impact of the distribution side. If I am a blockchain game, how should I release it? Should I have a local publisher? How can I share profits with the local publisher?

Because the homogenization demand of many projects is to make money, there is no localization of content at all. If there is a demand based on the content itself in the future, will there be a localization demand? And should the operation methods and game playing methods of different regions also be adapted to local conditions?

Because different regions have different purchasing power, do we really need to share a data system? Need to assign a server? How many parts of the content should be on the chain? We need to explore a lot of content related to release.

Chain Catcher:What do you need to overcome most from the AI technology services of to B to the products of to C?

Wu Xiankun:It has nothing to do with whether you have experience. If you have no experience, you can find someone with experience to solve it. The most difficult problem is to define the nature. In the early stage of the environment, we need to ask the correct direction in our mind and how to make it alive.

When the definition is not clear, the criteria for success cannot be set. Some people think that it is the asset value, sales volume or daily life of users, while others think that these are empty. Unclear definition also means that the solution to the problem is rather vague and requires a long time to think.

Chain Catcher:Who has more advantages when crypto's original team and traditional game manufacturers do chain games?

Wu Xiankun:The difference between the so-called crypto native and the players in the traditional web2 world is not so great. Asset prices have formed some abnormal phenomena under the super big foam, but the tide has faded, and only some of them can truly become native.

The so-called native team still needs to solve a basic contradiction when traditional game producers do chain games. If a traditional game player wants to play an interesting game, he can go to steam, but he needs to have the incentive of game assets and ownership. What should he do? There are many parts to be balanced and coordinated.

The real competitive advantage is the team's poor understanding of things.

Chain Catcher:At present, the entire gamefi user group is relatively small. How to break through in the future?

Wu Xiankun:The level of user groups in the whole Web3 world is not very large. There are practitioners, profit speculators and game players. They have intersection and integration. However, we believe that the proportion of game players will not be low. At the present stage, people still want to separate making money from playing games. Even when people in the industry want to play games, they may not choose blockchain games. However, everything has its advantages and disadvantages. The small number of users means that it is likely to develop into a branch with the fastest growth in the blockchain in the future.

It seems that the current wind direction has changed from emphasizing tokenimics to emphasizing the novelty of game playing methods. However, I personally think that the diversity of game playing methods is not the main driving engine for the next growth of chain games. Instead, we pay more attention to the changes in the distribution structure.

We should respect the natural law in the development of the industry. It needs input, production and launch channels, and then needs funds to enter the products and formats with more abundant regenerative output, so as to attract more innovative authors and capital injection. This is a continuous spiral process.

Now many people have misunderstandings about the chain game industry, feeling that the project seems to be careless and the game has not made a breakthrough. In my opinion, sometimes it is not necessarily an advantage to follow the market development rules. In the process of continuous efforts, we will gradually find a balance.

Chain Catcher:What new plans do you have next?

Wu Xiankun:First of all, we must improve the quality of the game. Second, we will explore the possible changes that blockchain technology may bring to other game links such as distribution through the ecosystem project.
